Dual Diagnosis
Dual diagnosis is a term that refers to individuals
who have both a mental health disorder and substance use disorder.
It may be used interchangeably with "co-occurring disorders" or "comorbidity."
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
Cognitive behavioral therapy (or cognitive behavioral therapies,
cognitive behavior therapy, CBT) is a psychotherapeutic approach
that aims to solve problems concerning dysfunctional emotions, behaviors
and cognitions through a goal-oriented, systematic procedure. The
title is used in diverse ways to designate behavior
therapy, cognitive
therapy, and to refer to therapy based upon a combination of
basic behavioral and cognitive research.
CBT is used in individual therapy as well as group settings, and
the techniques are often adapted for self-help applications.
CBT was primarily developed through a merging of behavior
therapy with cognitive
therapy
Individual Counseling
Individual counseling, also known as individual therapy, is where
individauls meet with a licensed professional to discuss core issues
affecting their life. Professionals create a treatment plan
to ensure that the best type of care is received.
Family Counseling / Program
Family counseling is where select members of the family attend
counseling with an individual. Stillwater’s Family Program
consists of large family educational workshops where only family
members attend, as well as family counseling.
Educational Tutoring / Workshops
Educational tutoring is where unlicensed staff meets with individuals
to educate regarding 12-steps, goals and recovery. Educational
workshops are groups where individuals gather to learn about 12-steps,
educational subjects and spiritual concept/theories.
Psycho-educational Groups
Psycho-educational groups are led by a licensed professional who
has the ability to educate about the disease of addiction.
Group Therapy; including process groups
Group therapy is led by a licensed professional; these groups offer
an opportunity for individuals to be confronted as well as to confront
others. These groups are therapeutically supervised and led,
and essential for the healing process to occur. Group therapy allows
individuals to grow emotionally and gain tools to have the ability
to problem solve.
EMDR
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a comprehensive,
integrative approach where individuals receive treatment that includes
various elements of different forms of treatment and psychotherapy. These
treatments include: psychodynamic, cognitive behavioral, interpersonal,
experiential, and body-centered therapies.
Massage Therapy
Massage therapy incorporates the practice of massage to assist
and prevent regarding pain and stress; massage therapy promotes
health and wellness. This practice can often reduce the stress
and alleviate pain that enables individuals to relax and focus
more during treatment.
Experiential Therapy
Experiential Therapy is a therapeutic approach that affords individuals
the opportunity to be outdoors, experiencing nature and re-vitalizing
one’s senses and mind. There are several forms of experiential
therapy used at Stillwater.
Physical Activity / Yoga
The importance of physical activity, such as yoga, is essential
when an individual is overcoming from the affects of drugs and/or
alcohol. Having the opportunity to release serotonin within
the brain and let go of energy is a vital component of restoring
one’s health, both mentally and physically.
